Alrighty boys and girls, we here at good old Ultimatedbz.com have decided to venture upon yet another contest. This one isn't for some
gay ass t-shirt or some DBZ cards (no offense to Animeman), this is to add someone to our staff, and not just any member but an AMV
(anime music video) creator. That's right, one of you guys or gals will get to make music videos, have them up on our servers and will have
them available for download on our site. It's been a while since we've had a contest, and we feel that this will make a terrific one involving lots of skill and creativity.
Contest Details:
Rules:
Email me, Dunnky, a link (Please do not send video through email, and include a subject that says "Contest") to two, not one...not 1.5 but two, of what you think are your best AMVs.
Then write out a resume of what you can do when it comes to contributing to the site (it'd be nice to have an AMV creator who can do more then just make videos, but it's not required)
in addition to that make out a list of your favorite genre of music and why you like that type of music. (Please do not say "I love DBZ" or "I love your site" for the resume, I want to see what you can do and how much experience you have in doing it.)
I will only accept videos in *.mpg, *.avi, *.asf, *.rm, or *.mov formats (and *.zip as long as the content is still in one of those formats), no other file formats will be accepted for review.
What makes a good video:
Ok, I've compiled a list of what I feel makes a good music video. Please keep in mind that I'm not trying to be conceited or say that I am the AMV god or something, but I feel that I am somewhat accomplished in this field and I'd like to keep the applications to a minumum so I don't spend my whole summer looking at videos, ok here it goes ...
1. Never, ever settle for less, if you watch your vid and think to yourself "hmmm, i could make that better, and I could do this to make the video better" then STOP and DO IT, accept nothing but the best from yourself.
2. Be unique, I swear, if I end up having to watch 80 videos to Three Doors Down's "kryptonite" i'm going to hang myself. Since people have trouble finding unique footage to use for making music videos you have to be unique in the song you use.
3. Try to have the music relate to the footage, don't have super heavy speed death thrash metal playing and show footage of people sitting down and drinking tea, it just don't work.
4. Timing is everything, time hits with drums, scene changes with changes in the song, and so on and so forth.
The rewards:
A contest wouldn't be a contest without it's rewards, and we at Ultimatedbz.com feel that there must be some incentive to this contest. If your videos and essay wins, you'll have your spot in the Ultimatedbz.com staff. This means that you will have your own alias chosen by yourself and will be able to make news updates on your own free will for the site. Your videos will be fully branded for Ultimatedbz.com and will be incorporated on the music video pages. You will have the opportunity of becoming a moderator at the message forum and even an operator (@nickname) in the chatroom. You will be guarenteed a great environment to work in, and will have the utmost amount of cooperation and support among the rest of the staff members.
Submission: dunnky@ultimatedbz.com
Alright, if you feel insecure that your videos will not meet up these minimal standards then please, do not send it to me, I really don't want to have
spend my entire summer looking at a bunch videos that were just thrown together. Also I will not contribute to your video at all which means I will not send you clips nor the software to make your videos (if not already made), thanks, and the best of luck to you all!
